Chronicles of Lucy Moon

Greetings!

July is in full swing, but not in it’s traditional way. Evidently, Mother Nature hasn’t perused the calendar correctly. July is usually the coldest, darkest, iciest month of winter. Whilst it is cold with foggy patches episodically amongst the hills here and there, the weather is decidedly sunny most days, which is quite a treat for this time of year. Mother Nature’s forgetfulness has caused great confusion amongst the trees. Many of them are still clothed in their autumnal glory, a little sparsely that’s true but they seem unsure of what’s expected. Usually, the deciduous trees would be resting during the winter months, having dropped all their leaves and secretly preparing for their grand entrance into spring.

What a blessing, sitting here on the sofa in the warmth of a room, not just bathed in sunshine, but illuminated. In honour of the day, I’ve donned the most fetching coral velour fur felt cloche. Velour felt always gives one a feeling of luxury. Unlike a summer-styled cloche, this model is perfect for winter or cooler climates. Worn very close fitting to the head, almost helmet like, but soft and light without the heavy feeling of a helmet and much more style, most definitely. The edge of the cloche is scalloped like flower petals sitting flatteringly along the cheek and jaw lines, with the leaves of the flower sitting across the forehead. Embroidery over the crown fills in the details of the flower and veining of the leaves. Simply elegant, without being overly fussy, all kept in the tonings of the coral colour. A very practical style for this time of year, having one’s ears covered, keeping out the winter chills and impending earache, whilst supremely elegant.

Time for warming tea, with a slice of honey & yoghurt sponge cake. Mmm, a luscious winter’s afternoon.

Fondest love

Lucy
