Greetings!
Awoke to a gorgeous autumn day yesterday.Beautiful sunshine.Couldn’t have received better weather for an autumn day,if one was ever able to pre-order it.Perfect day for a motor and that’s precisely what Austin (the motor) and I did.
It was all too glorious, motoring through the roadways, adorned with the outrageous shades of autumnal splendour. The vivid reds were quite intoxicating.Mother nature absoloutely, positively beaming in her beauty.
What would be most delightful to conclude our journey than a celebratory high tea, with a treasured friend.
As we motored in to the high street,we came upon a rather spiffy establishment, serving high tea.Just ducky!Upon entering through the doorway with ice pink topiary roses either side, one was subtily aware of a soft strawberry scent! How divine. We were very warmly welcomed by our host and guided to the most elegant and well appointed table. It can only be described as quite “hotsy totsy” with crisp white table cloth, gleaming silver teapot and service, delicate rose patterned china and sweet flowers in a vase. Our menu commenced with a pink mocktail in the best crystal, with small assorted berries to garnish.Quite refreshing. The most agreeable waiter then adorned our table with cake stands filled with miniature salmon quiches, savoury pastries, ribbon sandwiches of cucumber, scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream, bitesized pieces of nougat and chocolates, vanilla cupcakes, chocolate cake and filled meringues. All set against a backdrop of feminine pink decor and to the musical arrangements of jazz.
The tearooms were filled with bright young things in their elegant tea dresses with long knotted strands of pearls, finest cloche hats showing only the pretty soft smoky eyes and red lips of their hosts with porcelein complexions and a flutter of long eyelashes beneath.A scene of excitement, splendour and great occasion.
Fondest love
Lucy
